Solo exhibition at Lava Jazz Bar, Ponta Delgada, Azores, November 2016:
Mono-prints were for me, at the time, a new creative process which became moderately addictive. All mono-prints were achieved with multiple layers of colours using a Gelli plate. In some cases, I completed the work with a variety of drawing materials.
"I look at the art work of Avelina da Silveira as if they were texts: They tell me a story and transmit a message. In them I find the traces and intimate colours of a tireless and bold woman who searches, explores, finds new paths and persists; one who transforms into images the enthusiastic energy of discovering the ongoing renewal of life; who invites us to embrace the emotion which comforts, disturbs, inspires, or baffles us. Let us look at her art work, then, with the eyes of one who ventures amongst secrets of a private path, where stones become moss and the moss becomes paint."
